Miley Cyrus sends homeless man to accept her Video of the Year award

Last year, Miley Cyrus changed the way we looked at foam fingers and tongues at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), which also introduced twerking to a whole new audience.

At this year's awards ceremony, Miley Cyrus still managed to surprise people... in a different way.

After winning the Video of the Year award for Wrecking Ball, she sent a homeless youth to accept her award and make a speech.

The man named Jesse explained, in an emotional speech, that there are more than 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the US.

He then added: "I'm one of these people."

As a teary-eyed Cyrus looked on, Jesse directed viewers and fans to go to her Facebook page where she has uploaded a post asking for fans to donate to end youth homelessness.

Can we just say we are liking this version of Miley? She even wore more clothes than usual!
