Cheyne's chance on Butterfly Spirit

Friday's South Africa (Fairview) preview

RACE 1 (1,300M)

(7) DESERT WANDERER is improving and has a winning chance.

(1) KATIA showed nice improvement last time out but will need to repeat that effort.

(9) MALINDA has run three good races and should contest the finish again.

(10) FRENCH NOBILITY has improved with blinkers and has to be given respect.

(11) DONREMY, (12) WAIT A SEC and (16) RUBY JOY are capable of earning some money.

RACE 2 (1,300M)

(1) BUTTERFLY SPIRIT always gives of her best and does have a winning chance in this line-up with Greg Cheyne astride.

(11) SILVA KEY can also win.

(2) LIGHT AS A FEATHER returns from a short break after being an easy maiden winner.

(4) DON'T STOP DANCING is in good form and deserves a second win.

(6) BUSHY PARK was an unlucky loser last time out but is not very reliable.

RACE 3 (2,200M)

(1) SHALLCROSS looks to be improving and, if transferring his recent turf form to the Polytrack, should be able to fight out the finish.

(2) FUJIN ran a fair race on his local debut and could finish in the money again.

(3) THE SULTANS SECRET has been a bit of a disappointment but is better over this distance and could place.

(9) CAPE LEOPARD ran on very nicely last time out.

RACE 4 (2,200M)

(1) STORMY ECLIPSE is capable of a strong finish when in the mood and could like this distance.

(2) GRAPE VINE is holding form and tries a bit further.

(3) PLANO is versatile and should go close.

(4) MANGROVE is looking for a four wins in a row and must be respected.

(5) FRIKKIE is distance-suited and can pop up.

RACE 5 (1,800M)

(1) QUEEN FOREVER has struggled of late but is quite capable of winning a race like this.

(2) SMOKEY AFFAIR was well beaten last time out but is clearly capable of doing better.

(6) SO ENCHANTING is suited to the Polytrack and could finish in the money.

(7) LIBRA is consistent but steps up in distance.

(8) RAVEN GIRL ran a cracker on her local debut and should go close to winning.

RACE 6 (1,200M)

(1) KLEVER KATHY was very disappointing last time out when only fourth. A couple of the runners in this race finished ahead of her but she could turn the tables.

(2) MERITOCRACY is course-and-distance suited and her last run can be ignored.

(3) HORSE HAIZY quickened up to win well last time out but did pick up a six-point penalty.

(6) GAME GIRL ran on well last time out and can play a minor role.

RACE 7 (1,200M)

Trainer Alan Greeff has a very strong hand in this race and the choice is the classy (3) CARLITA. This Oratorio filly pulled very hard last time out and tired late. She is much better than that performance suggests and she can bounce back to winning form.

(6) QUICK GLIMPSE is on the rise and is trying to win her fourth in a row.

(2) BOXLEY is consistent and can earn.

RACE 8 (1,300M)

(8) EMERITO was full of running when winning his maiden race last time but may have stable companion (9) POMACEOUS to beat. (2) FIGARO went too quickly last week and, with a more patient ride, could go close to winning.

(3) SCRIBO has had a very good year and deserves respect again.

(5) HUMBLE ADDICT makes his local debut and could improve trying the Polytrack.
